Subscription commerce sites, On The Rise?
An interesting phenomenon is occurring in startup land- subscription based e-commerce businesses. These services have members who pay a monthly fee to receive some type of box each month, ranging from samples to full size products. In most cases, the contents are highly targeted and curated by an authority on the vertical they serve. As an example, a company appealing to new mothers may send their subscribers a box of baby care items each month.
My personal favorite is dollarshaveclub.com. Razor blades are a frequently purchased item, and with one five minute online shopping experience, I will never have to go to the store and buy razor blades again. It’s about time someone thought to send me blades once a month…
Is subscription com
merce here to stay or is it a passing fad? Will established retailers find a way to capitalize on this emerging trend?

The success of Birchbox has inspired dozens of similar beauty and other themed start-ups on subscription boxes. “Unboxing” videos on YouTube are a trend and the boxes are even customized and designed to have an exquisite luxe feel to them. This is a win -win situation for the fickle fashionista who cannot resist a pretty box of new goodies every month..:)
LovelyLauz / I am looking into geittng some Birchboxes for gifts. How are their products for black women? I don’t want to send my friends a monthly box of stuff they won’t be able to use. Thanks and thanks for talking about these sites. Just in time for the holidays!
I am not sure where you’re getting your info, but good topic. I needs to spend some time learning more or understanding more. Thanks for magnificent information I was looking for this info for my mission.
But yeah Many thanks for taking the time to chat about this, I consider strongly about it and in actuality like learning more on this topic. If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your website with more information? It is extremely helpful for me.
With a commitment to purchase the products for a period of time (or subscribe), the customers likely get their goods at a discounted price. Customers also get to save their time while they can be sure that the supplies they need are in stock. I will hate to wake up to a morning in which I find my razor with unusable blade and the cartridge box empty, for instance. Having said that, the number of such subscription sites popping up will easily remind one about the deal sites fiasco of 2k10s and 11s. And what ShoeDazzle did in early 2012 is no good sign either. Add to it, the psychology it takes for a customer to commit into buying for few months, only time will tell if this concept will survive and no, I don’t think the biggies will get into this, atleast not in one of these days.
Thanks for bringing this up Chris, good write up.
